Problem
HR work typically sits in places that do not talk to each other: employee details in one spreadsheet, timesheets in another file, leave in email, payroll at the accountant. The same data is entered by hand in several places, and when one changes the rest go stale. Closing payroll at month end turns into finding out which file is current.

Approach
Instead of drawing screens first, we wrote the existing flow down: who creates an employee, who enters timesheets, who approves leave, which items feed payroll. That flow became the structure of the application. The employee record is the single source; timesheets, leave and payroll all draw from it. Permissions came out of the same flow — an HR officer and a manager see different things on the same screen.

Result
Employees, timesheets, leave and payroll came together in one system, and the same data is entered once. Reports come out of the system itself and can also be exported to Excel. The application is in production and updates continue under the upkeep subscription.
